Earlier this week, we published an editorial documenting what it has cost this publication to obtain public records from the City of Owen Sound: six MFIPPA requests over 20 months, five access decisions, one completed within the 30-day statutory deadline, and roughly $1,750 in combined City and IPC fees.

We wrote to Mayor Boddy and Council on June 11 laying out the pattern. More than three weeks on, no member of Council has responded.

Of course, ours is only one vantage point. So we’re curious:

For a region this size, the arts calendar in Grey Bruce punches well above its weight — and Nicole Egan's combined July-August roundup makes the case in one sitting.

The Tom Thomson Gallery has reset for the mid-year with three exhibitions and a new dual show alongside the Durham Art Gallery. Down in Wiarton, bold work has taken over five downtown business windows while three galleries run shows within a short walk of one another. And out at the water's edge in Southampton, the arts centre is building toward its second annual festival.

Add openings and artist receptions nearly every week, plus Sunday concerts from Red Bay to Bluewater Park, and the season is fuller than any one weekend can hold. Nicole has gathered it all — where to go, what’s on, and when:
