See what's on the agenda and read up on the issues ahead of Monday's meeting
Owen Sound City Council meets Monday, March 25, with open session beginning at 5:30pm in council chambers.
You can view the meeting via Rogers TV or on the City’s Council and Committees webpage.
Ahead of the last council meeting, we asked you:
Eighty-six percent of the 71 respondents disagreed with City Council’s decision to cancel the Remuneration Task Force and thought they should have been allowed to proceed with an evaluation of council pay.
Before we get into the agenda for Monday’s meeting, we’re curious:
Now, here’s a look at what’s coming up at Monday’s meeting.
Highlights:
City Manager Tim Simmonds will bring the staff report on downtown cameras, originally promised by the end of 2023, which was requested by council after the murder of Sharif Rahman in the 900 block of 2nd Ave W in August last year. The report comes with a recommendation for a 3-year pilot project that would see cameras installed in 11 downtown locations (see map below).
The City Manager’s office will also deliver a report about the Town Hall requested by council to engage the public, and it might be a little different than you’d expect.
Staff will ask council to support the Ontario Pumped Storage Project and send a letter of support to TC Energy.
Council will hear from the Earth Day Planning Group on what they have planned for their third annual event on April 20, 2024.
Council’s 2023 pay and expenses report is out.
Council will receive a recommendation from the Strategic Planning Ad Hoc Committee to approve hiring a consultant for up to $80,000 as the City does not have the resources or expertise to conduct effective community engagement for the 2050 Vision process in-house.
