South Bruce OPP Updates: Stunt Driving Charge, Assault Arrest, Fatal Crash Update
South Bruce OPP laid multiple charges in recent incidents and confirmed details in a fatal collision on Highway 21 in Saugeen Shores.
Here are the latest updates from the South Bruce detachment of the OPP, serving Arran-Elderslie, Brockton, Huron-Kinloss, Kincardine, and South Bruce.
Kincardine Driver Charged With Stunt Driving After 133 km/h Stop
A 23-year-old Kincardine resident is facing stunt driving charges after being stopped by police on Highway 21.
According to South Bruce OPP, officers were conducting proactive patrols in the Municipality of Kincardine on March 21 at approximately 10:14 p.m. when they observed a vehicle travelling 133 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
Police stopped the vehicle and charged the driver under the Highway Traffic Act with stunt driving and speeding.
As a result, the driver received a 30-day administrative licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The charges have not been proven in court.
Lucknow Man Charged After Alleged Assault on Officer During Trespass Investigation
A 51-year-old Huron-Kinloss resident is facing multiple charges after an incident in Lucknow that police say escalated to an alleged assault on an officer.
South Bruce OPP say officers were called just before 9 a.m. on March 30 to a property in the Municipality of Huron-Kinloss after reports that a man had been trespassing overnight and had returned to the location that morning.
Police say that while officers were investigating, the individual allegedly assaulted an officer. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Kent Bieman, 51, of Huron-Kinloss Township has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, trespassing at night, causing a disturbance, uttering threats, and resisting a peace officer.
He was held for a bail hearing and later released from custody. He is scheduled to appear in court in Walkerton on May 6, 2026.
The charges have not been proven in court.
One Dead, Another Injured in Highway 21 Collision; Police Continue Investigation
One person has died following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 21 in Saugeen Shores.
South Bruce OPP say the crash occurred on March 31 at approximately 5:23 p.m., just north of Concession 2, and involved an SUV and a pickup truck.
The driver of the SUV was transported to hospital, where they later died from their injuries. Police have not released the identity of the deceased.
The driver of the pickup truck was treated and released from hospital with minor injuries.
Highway 21, which was closed for several hours following the collision, has since reopened.
Police continue to investigate with support from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam or security footage from the area at the time, to contact OPP.
