Don’t put your winter woolies away just yet… after a deceptively sunny (dare I say warm?) start to the week, nighttime temperatures are headed back below zero by the end of the week.

This week also brings us the official Municipal Elections 2026 kickoff.

Municipal voters head to the polls on Monday, October 26, 2026 to elect mayors, deputy mayors, councillors, and school board trustees.

Candidate nominations open May 1 and close at 2 p.m. on August 21, 2026, officially setting the stage for who will be on the ballot in Owen Sound and communities across Grey and Bruce counties.

Municipal politics may not get the same headlines as Queen’s Park or Ottawa, but these elections shape the issues that hit closest to home: housing and development, roads and infrastructure, policing, local budgets and taxes, transit, recreation, and in many communities, the decisions that influence healthcare recruitment and economic growth.
