Choir Camp returns to Owen Sound July 20 to 24 (Monday to Friday) at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 865 2nd Ave W. in Owen Sound. Activities run each day from 1:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The camp includes a 100-voice choir, four 25-voice choirs, workshops, a Wednesday evening concert with Pro Coro Canada chamber choir from Edmonton (July 22 at 7:00 p.m.), a talent show, and a Friday evening end-of-week concert featuring the mass choir and small choirs (July 24 at 7:00 p.m.).
Dr. Elaine Choi and Dr. Mark Ramsay will return as co-conductors of the 100-voice choir. Lynn Janes, Dr. Lorinda Van Wyk, James Pinhorn, and Matthew Allard will direct our 25-voice choirs.
Workshops will be led by these conductors, members of Pro Coro Canada, and local opera singer and musical theatre performer, Matt Chittick, who will also give individual voice lessons.
Started in 2023 by Matthew Allard and Arlen Wiebe from Owen Sound, Choir Camp is an annual summer choral event bringing over 100 singers from across Ontario and Canada to Owen Sound for five days of friendship, singing and learning.
The camp has been held in Owen Sound for the last three summers, and this year Choir Camp will host camps in both Owen Sound (July 20-24) and Peterborough (July 13-17).
There is still room for interested singers to register for the full week of Choir Camp in both Owen Sound and Peterborough. The registration fee is $375 for adults (ages 25+) and $225 for students (ages 14-24).
