The freezing rain and sideways sleet are warning me there’s precious little time remaining to get that snow tire installation appointment booked.
We have a few updates from local agencies to help you prepare for the conditions promised in the days ahead:
See and download ‘Know Our Plan for Snow’ for the City of Owen Sound’s maintenance standards and snow removal plans.
Report any vehicles stranded on Grey County roads by phone to 519-376-7337.
Carry an emergency warming kit in your vehicle and call 911 in case of an emergency.
Try as various organizations may to keep up with curated lists of closures, we just don’t have access yet to one single, real-time source of truth for road conditions and closures across city/township, county, and provincial roadways. Ontario511 and the West Region OPP are your official sources for highway closures, and you can visit roads.grey.ca for the latest reported Grey County road conditions.
Community
Next up, mark your calendars as 560 CFOS is hosting its 2nd Annual Community Food Drive on Friday, December 6, broadcasting live from Zehrs in Owen Sound from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Last year, the drive raised over $46,000 in food and monetary donations for the Salvation Army, all of which stayed local.
With demand on local food banks up 20% this year, it’s a great opportunity to help make a difference by donating non-perishable items or contributing financially at participating grocery stores or by phone.
Public Notices
The City of Owen Sound is accepting applications for committee members on the River District Board until Thursday, December 12.
