Nominations close Friday at 2 p.m., and twenty-one people have filed so far in the City of Owen Sound: 14 for seven council seats, six for mayor, and one for deputy mayor.
The council field has already surpassed the 13 who ran in 2022. A large pool want the top job, yet the deputy mayor’s race still has nobody in it but the incumbent, and Owen Sound’s deputy mayor is one of the city’s two seats at Grey County council.
If you’ve been thinking about running this term, this week is your last chance. Nomination papers go to the City Clerk’s office at City Hall, and the clerk’s staff can walk you through the eligibility requirements and the signature threshold. Anyone already on the list can also withdraw up to the same hour.
Below: every registered candidate, how to reach them, who’s held office before, and what’s next. We’re tracking how ballots are shaping up around the region; see Owen Sound Current’s Municipal Election Guide for the latest.
