The week ahead in Owen Sound looks hot, and a little extra care can go a long way. Finding shade, staying hydrated, and slowing down a little can make all the difference. If you’re working, enjoying the waterfront, or taking in a festival, we hope you’re finding ways to keep cool and look after yourself.

This week also brings a chance to reflect on the life of someone who spent decades looking after Owen Sound in her own way. On August 18, the community will gather to celebrate Jan Chamberlain, a fourth-generation Owen Sounder whose energy, optimism, and tireless volunteerism touched nearly every corner of our city.

From affordable housing advocacy to arts and culture, Jan’s legacy is one of connection, opportunity, and care. Here’s how you can join the celebration of her life and all she gave to our community.
