Community Celebration of Life for Jan Chamberlain
Community members in Owen Sound will gather August 18 to celebrate the life and legacy of Jan Chamberlain, a tireless volunteer and civic leader.
The Community Celebration of Life for Jan Chamberlain, a remarkable Owen Sounder who passed away on July 1st, 2025, will be held at 11:00 on Monday, August 18, at the Bayshore Centre in Owen Sound.
Everyone is invited to attend the one-hour program, which will include speakers representing many of the organizations and activities in which Jan was involved. There will be live music presentations by Larry Jensen and david sereda, as well.
Jan was a fourth-generation Owen Sounder: she was born, raised, and died here. A relentless supporter of innumerable civic projects, Jan received two Owen Sound Volunteer of the Year awards, as well as the King Charles III Coronation Medal and the Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee Medal in recognition of her significant contributions to making Owen Sound a better place for everyone.
Infectiously positive, inspiring, and motivating, Jan worked tirelessly to make sure there were opportunities for everyone here to thrive.
Since the official Community Celebration can only cover a small portion of Jan's impact on Owen Sound, attendees are encouraged to bring printed stories and memories of Jan to be gathered into a handbound book to be assembled for Jan's family.
