According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers were called around 6:30 p.m. on December 22 after a witness reported a pickup truck driving with its hazard lights on, veering across the road, and striking a guardrail near Grey Road 112.
Police say they located the driver and the vehicle “a short time later,” but did not specify where or how far from the crash site the stop occurred, whether the driver was still in the vehicle, or if any roadside testing was conducted at the scene.
The driver, identified as Richard Fraser, 27, of Meaford, is facing the following charges:
Operation while Impaired – Alcohol
Operation while Impaired – 80 Plus
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
In accordance with provincial regulations, Fraser’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 8, 2026.
Residents are reminded that impaired driving remains a leading cause of serious collisions on Ontario roads. Police continue to encourage the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
