A routine patrol by Saugeen Shores Police in the early hours of Sunday morning led to two Owen Sound residents facing charges — one for driving while suspended, the other arrested on multiple outstanding warrants.
At around 2:11 a.m. on December 21, officers came across a vehicle stuck in snow on Highway 21 near Concession 10, just outside Port Elgin.
Police say the 39-year-old woman behind the wheel was charged with driving while under suspension. The reason for the suspension was not disclosed. The vehicle was removed from the scene by a tow truck.
A 40-year-old male passenger, also from Owen Sound, was arrested on outstanding warrants issued by the Barrie Police, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Owen Sound Police Service.
Authorities have not stated what the warrants relate to or whether the man remains in custody. The names of the individuals have not been released.
Police did not say whether road or weather conditions played a role in the vehicle’s situation or how long it had been there before the patrol’s arrival.
