Meaford Hold & Secure / Shelter in Place Has Ended: Grey Bruce OPP
Police announced at 4:40 p.m. that the order for residents to shelter in place has been lifted. Grey Bruce OPP continue investigating a weapons report received at 1:00 p.m.

Meaford residents saw an increased police presence around the Victoria Street area.
On September 4, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a weapons complaint on Victoria Street in the Municipality of Meaford. Out of an abundance of caution Georgian Bay Community School was place on a hold and secure and the community was asked to remain in their residences.
The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Canine Unit assisted with the investigation.
The hold and secure has since been lifted.
The Grey Bruce OPP are trying to verify the information received.
