Today, we begin by recognizing the people who show up when it matters most. You almost hope you never see them, but are certainly grateful they arrive when needed.
Across Grey County and the country, May 18 to 24 marks Paramedic Services Week. It’s a time to reflect on the vital role paramedics play in our communities, not just in emergencies but in prevention, education, and everyday care.
The 2025 theme, "We Care. For Everyone," captures a truth that paramedics live daily: care isn’t limited by circumstance, location, or background.
Here in Grey County, a team of 153 paramedics responded to over 15,000 calls for service in 2024.
They work under pressure, in unpredictable conditions, and often with little time to spare. But they also go beyond the call, supporting vulnerable residents through outreach services, checking in on patients at home, and helping people stay safe where they live.
Paramedics are first responders, yes. But they’re also neighbours, educators, and lifelines in moments of uncertainty.
As Paramedic Services Week continues, let’s take this opportunity to pause and thank those who care for all of us.
