Yesterday, we brought you this thoughtful column on Solidarity Sundays from Joel Pennington, in which he issued a challenge of sorts.
If Owen Sound is to realize its potential, he said, we need physical spaces where we can come together and be collaborative and creative. And we need people to fill them.
My question to you then, readers, is this:
Of course, you might think it’s something else entirely. Feel free to share your thoughts in a letter to the editor, up to 500 words in length, submitted to owensoundcurrenteditor@gmail.com.
Opinion
As Canada approaches a pivotal federal election and global headlines shift by the hour, it can be difficult to stay anchored in principle.
In this letter to the editor, the Owen Sound & Area branch of the Canadian Federation of University Women calls on Canada to uphold its values of peace, cooperation, and human rights—values they see as under threat from the actions of the United States government.
With particular concern for women’s rights, global health, education, and the destabilizing effects of a growing trade war, their message is one of urgent solidarity and principled resolve.
Letter: Canada Must Stand Firm
With growing alarm, we have watched the direct threats to global peace, justice and human rights posed by the actions of the Government of the United States. The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW), locally represented by the CFUW Owen Sound & Area club, is steadfast in our commitment to advocate for universal human rights, social justice, sustainable development, and peace.
