We’ve heard from readers on both sides of the issue — both for and against removing U.S. flags from municipally owned properties in Owen Sound.
On the one hand, our closest neighbour and ally is threatening our sovereignty with talk of annexation and an economic takeover and has launched a trade war.
On the other, a country is bigger than its leader. As individuals, Canadians have deep ties with the American people (not all of whom support the actions against us).
City Council heard about it last night, too, when three community members spoke up in Public Question Period asking that the American flag be removed from City facilities.
Council made no decision, and took no action. You can watch last night’s meeting on the City website.
The question is… what do you think?
Community
As winter blankets gardens in snow, it’s easy to wonder—where do all the plants go? While animals can grow fur, find shelter, or stay warm indoors, plants have developed their own remarkable strategies for surviving the cold.
In this community contribution, writer and artist Jennifer Deeks explores how plants endure winter’s harsh conditions, from dormancy to built-in antifreeze. Her insights, accompanied by digital artwork, reveal the hidden world of plant adaptation beneath the snow.
Opinion
Since we’re on the topic of winter, can we talk about the City’s snow removal policies again?
Because I had no idea the Significant Weather Event declaration that Owen Sound made on February 12 was still in effect until they released the mandatory notice ending it… yesterday.
Public Notices
