Investigation Underway After Serious Collision Closes East-Side Intersection
Police are investigating following a serious collision at 16th Avenue East and 10th Street East.
Update: The intersection reopened just before noon on February 18. Police have not released information about the vehicles involved, injuries, or potential charges. However, a GoFundMe campaign circulating online states that a local woman died following a serious collision on February 17.
The intersection of 16th Avenue East and 10th Street East remains closed this morning following what Owen Sound Police describe as a serious motor vehicle collision.
OSPS said the closure is in effect “indefinitely” as officers conduct their investigation at the scene. No further details about the number of vehicles involved or potential injuries were immediately available.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice.

Police have not indicated when the intersection is expected to reopen. At 8:40 a.m. on February 18, Owen Sound Police confirmed the intersection of 10th St. East and 16th Ave East is still closed.
“16th Ave East is closed from 8th St. East to 14th St. East, across from Canadian Tire. Motorists are to use the 8th St. East Hospital entrance for hospital use,” they posted to social channels.
Owen Sound Current will update this story as more information becomes available.
