Intersections Wood Symposium Brings 15 Speakers to Owen Sound in October
The non-profit behind the symposium was inspired by the late Stephen Hogbin, the Owen Sound woodworker and designer whose influence is one of the weekend's topics.

The Intersections Wood Symposium 2026 will take place in and around Owen Sound October 16-18, with additional pre- and post-conference workshops. The speakers for this remarkable event will feature presentations on everything from technical aspects of woodworking and woodturning to the historical and contemporary impacts of the craft and art of working with wood.

Taking place at Grey Roots Museum, Harmony Arts Centre, Grey Gallery, and Intersections Wood Studio, the Symposium will include lectures and demonstrations, a gallery exhibition of registrants’ work, vendor displays, an opportunity to visit the Grey Roots Wood Shop featuring historic local woodworking tools, a tour of the Grey Sauble Conservation Arboretum, an evening banquet, and opportunities for connecting with many local, national, and international woodworkers and woodturners.
The Intersections Wood Symposium 2026 is hosted by Intersections Wood Collaborative (IWC), a non-profit organization inspired by Stephen Hogbin (1942-2022), world-recognized woodworker, artist, designer, writer, and environmentalist, to create opportunities to celebrate all aspects of wood, woodworking, and woodturning. Located in downtown Owen Sound, IWC offers a full schedule of workshops, lectures, and open studio events.
