Hanover Launches Well Upgrade Project Backed by $1.75 Million From Province
Work is starting on Well No. 1 and Well No. 2, with $1.75 million from a $9.5-million provincial allocation across Grey and Bruce. A public meeting is planned.
The Town of Hanover has launched a project to upgrade two municipal wells that supply the town's drinking water, backed by $1.75 million from the province.
The money comes from Ontario’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program under its Health and Safety Water Stream. Hanover says the province is investing $9,524,917 across three water and wastewater projects in Grey and Bruce Counties, and that its share covers improvements to Well No. 1 and Well No. 2.
Both wells provide potable water to homes and businesses across Hanover. The town describes them as aging and says the work will support long-term reliability.
“The Town is committed to protecting Hanover’s drinking water future through responsible infrastructure investment and ongoing public engagement,” Mayor Sue Paterson said in the release.
Hanover says it will post updates as the project proceeds and will hold a Public Information Centre where residents can ask questions of project representatives. A date has not been announced.
