Fin de Fiesta Flamenco to Set Heartwood Hall Ablaze in Owen Sound
Fin de Fiesta Flamenco has spent over a decade touring the raw, improvisational “tablao” style of flamenco across Canada and Europe — and they're coming to Owen Sound.

Heartwood Hall, the wood-lined “treehouse in the sky” that’s become Owen Sound’s premier home for roots, folk, and blues, hosts a very different kind of roots music on Saturday, August 15, when Fin de Fiesta Flamenco brings live flamenco music and dance to its stage.
Founded in 2013 in Seville by Canadian dancer Lia Grainger and guitarist Dennis Duffin, Fin de Fiesta Flamenco has spent over a decade touring the raw, improvisational “tablao” style of flamenco across Canada and Europe.
Onstage, Grainger and Duffin are joined by acclaimed Montreal-based Spanish vocalist Alvaro Echanove. The ensemble has been celebrated by the Toronto Star, National Post, Vancouver Sun, and The Georgia Straight, which called their performances “passionate, intense, emotional.”
With its warm, all-wood room interior and community vibes, Heartwood Hall has built a reputation as the spot in town to see fabulous touring acts intimate and up close. It makes it an unusually good fit for Fin de Fiesta’s “tablao” flamenco, a style of flamenco built to be experienced in small rooms, where you can see the faces and feel the emotion of the artists.
“After more than a decade of touring, I still think the best flamenco happens in small rooms, not big theatres. Heartwood Hall is exactly that kind of room – where the audience can get close enough to feel the floor move,” says Grainger, the ensemble’s co-founder and lead dancer. “It’s going to be an intimate, thrilling evening.”
Owen Sound is the third stop on Fin de Fiesta’s six-city Ontario tour, which runs from Waterloo to Ottawa this August.

Fin de Fiesta Flamenco is a Canadian music and dance ensemble founded in 2013 in Seville, Spain, by dancer Lia Grainger and guitarist Dennis Duffin. For more than a decade, the group has toured Canada and Europe, bringing authentic tablao flamenco to North American audiences alongside Montreal-based vocalist Alvaro Echanove. All three members are internationally recognized, award-winning artists whose mandate is to make flamenco — a truly inclusive, multicultural art form — accessible to Canadians.
