Thursday, February 27, is Election Day, and voting is already in full swing.
🗳️ Advance Polls took place in a dozen locations across the Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound riding late last week and into the weekend.
📬 Mail-In Voting - The period for applying to vote by mail has closed and if you registered, that is the only way you can vote. Your completed ballot must be received by 6 p.m. on February 27 to count.
📮 Voter Registration Cards were reportedly mailed last week, although many constituents report they haven’t received them.
No matter — it’s quick and easy to register at the polls.
You don’t have to wait until Thursday, either. Head to the local election office at 625 6th St E anytime during open hours (Mon-Sat: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Sun: 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.) up to 6 p.m. on Wednesday to cast your vote if you want to get it in ahead of Election Day.
You can also arrange a home visit through the local election office by calling them at 1-(833) 505-3398 and registering before 6 pm on February 26 if you cannot vote in person.
☑️ Election Day - Use the online Voter Information Service to find your poll location.
Get to Know Your MPP Candidates
The Owen Sound Current reached out to all candidates who provided contact information to Elections Ontario and those whose details we could find online to conduct write-in interviews.
Three of your candidates responded.
As stated earlier in this election cycle, The Owen Sound Current isn’t backing a specific candidate. What matters most to us is that you exercise your right to vote.
We appreciate and respect those candidates who took the time to engage here and in community debates. It takes guts to show up and field the tough questions. BGOS deserves an MPP who will show up for us, even when — especially when — those difficult conversations must be had.
Below, you’ll find your NDP, Liberal, and Green Party provincial candidates’ perspectives and positions on affordable housing and social services, healthcare, economic development and agriculture, infrastructure, and more.
