Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound is heading to the polls, and we need to talk about something important: voter turnout.
In the last provincial election, 53% of eligible voters in our riding didn’t cast a ballot. That’s more than half of us sitting out a decision that directly impacts our healthcare, housing, and local economy. The reasons for this are complex—apathy, frustration, accessibility—but one thing is clear: your voice matters, and maybe we have some work to do to convince you of that.
The Owen Sound Current is not here to tell you who to vote for. While many media outlets endorse a candidate, our publisher and I do not believe that’s our role.
What matters isn’t who we’re voting for—it’s that you vote.
To make that process a bit easier and help you make a choice you can feel good about, we’re introducing BGOS Votes: 2025 Provincial Election Guide. I hope this serves as your go-to resource for everything election-related.
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Votes: 2025 Provincial Election Guide
An informational resource for voters in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound: Learn about the candidates, meetings and debates, and your voting options for the 2025 provincial election in which you'll choose your next MPP.
This is more than a static guide. It’s a dynamic, regularly updated space where you’ll find candidate profiles, debate schedules, voting options, and real-time updates as new information comes in.
We’ll be running community polls to gauge local opinions, covering all-candidate events, and putting together a write-in interview for candidates so you can hear directly from them. We’re also exploring an interactive election night event—stay tuned for more on that.
But first, let’s talk about you and start… well, right at the start.
P.S. Did you know voting has already opened?
You don’t even have to wait for the advance polls; the local election office is accepting ballots right now. Learn more in our Election Guide, and stay tuned for updates.
