OPP Detective Inspector Jane Conway delivering an update in the Sharif Rahman case at a press conference Wednesday afternoon in Owen Sound. Read more in Local News below.

It’s been a hectic week, and we’re moving a number of stories forward step by step. We’ve been promised an update soon on the high-speed police chase that ended in Owen Sound earlier this week. We await a final decision on our freedom of information request for BG Wealth Group’s Owen Sound tax arrears.

We’ve also just received word that another freedom of information request we filed, to have the City of Owen Sound release the 5000 responses they received to open-ended questions in the taxpayer-funded Vision 2050 survey, comes with a $735 price tag.

Independent journalism isn’t free, but it’s vital. These responses almost certainly contain valuable community input and suggestions on what we want to be going forward. We’re determined to make sure they become part of our shared public record.

And now that charges have been announced in Sharif Rahman’s case, the work begins to locate where the suspects are being held so we can bring you up-to-date information as their extradition hearings proceed.

If you haven’t already, please consider upgrading your subscription to support local journalism.

The Ladies Foursome: A Bit of Sunshine at the Roxy

The 2014 play is a female follow-up to Foster’s 1998 The Foursome, which follows four men who reunite for their college reunion. This time, three women – Margot, Tate, and Connie – get together for a round of golf following the funeral of their partner Cathy, and are joined by Cathy’s friend Dory, whom none of them have met.
