West Grey Resident Charged with Human Trafficking
27-year-old also charged with multiple counts of assault and assault causing bodily harm in investigation involving a victim from the Municipality of Brockton.
A 27-year-old resident of West Grey is headed to court in Walkerton facing multiple charges relating to a human trafficking investigation conducted by the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
In June, the South Bruce OPP Crime Unit launched an investigation into human trafficking allegations involving a victim from the Municipality of Brockton.
The unnamed accused from West Grey has been charged with:
Six counts of assault
Assault causing bodily harm
Trafficking in persons
Material benefit resulting from trafficking in persons
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton at a later date.
OPP said they will not release names to protect the identity of the victims.
