West Grey Hosting Open Houses on Official Plan Updates for Durham and Neustadt
Learn about West Grey’s review of its Official Plan for Durham and Neustadt, with open houses happening in those communities this week.
The Municipality of West Grey is beginning a review and update of its Official Plan, the document that sets out how land use, development, and growth are managed in the community.
The plan applies specifically to the settlement areas of Durham and Neustadt, while areas outside those communities remain under the Grey County Official Plan.
Municipalities in Ontario are required under the Planning Act to review their Official Plans every five years. The process ensures local policies remain consistent with provincial planning direction, including the Provincial Policy Statement 2024, and reflect current community priorities.
West Grey’s review will also consider strategic priorities set by council and emerging needs tied to growth and development, the municipality says.
A draft version of the updated plan is available on the municipal website. Hard copies can be viewed at the municipal office in Durham.
To give residents a chance to learn more and provide feedback, two open houses are scheduled:
Tuesday, September 9, 2025, 4–7 p.m. — West Grey Municipal Office, 402813 Grey County Road 4, Durham
Thursday, September 11, 2025, 4–7 p.m. — Neustadt Community Centre, 183 Enoch Street, Neustadt
Those unable to attend can send written comments to the West Grey Planning Department by mail (402813 Grey Road 4, Durham, ON N0G 1R0) or by email at notice@westgrey.com.
More information, including maps of the affected areas and the full draft plan, is posted on the West Grey website: Draft West Grey Official Plan – September 2025.
