Owen Sounders who stepped outside after dark this week may have caught a rare treat: the Northern Lights shimmering across our skies.

A coronal mass ejection from the sun created the right conditions for the aurora borealis to be visible across much of Ontario, rewarding those with clear, dark horizons.

In her most recent ‘Between Our Steps’ column, Cathy Hird reflects on how starlit skies, moonlit walks, and even shadows can reveal meaning we miss in the light of day. It’s a timely reminder, as nights grow longer, that darkness holds its own kind of beauty.
