Earlier this week, we published the full set of resident answers to open-ended questions in Owen Sound’s ‘Vision 2050’ strategic plan survey conducted in 2024 — more than 5,000 candid comments on council priorities, community challenges, and the future of our city.

This data was released to OwenSoundCurrent.com under a Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) request, obtained at a cost of $517.50 paid to the City of Owen Sound.

It’s a rich repository of local insight. While we hope council may draw on it in setting direction, the data is just as valuable for community groups, researchers, businesses, or anyone planning projects and applying for funding.

The responses are published in an interactive Google Sheet. You can search by keyword, filter by theme, or even download your own copy (File → Download → Excel) to sort and analyze however you like.

Want to see what residents said about housing? Type it in the search bar. Curious how often safety or downtown comes up? Filter by those words and scan the results.

We’ve had a look at the first open-ended question and pulled some highlights into our report released Monday. Next week, we’ll continue our analysis and dig into Question 10: Are there other priorities that should be added to Council’s list?
