We don’t typically cover provincial politics. There’s no shortage of outlets dedicated to Queen’s Park, and our focus at Owen Sound Current has always been local — the issues, decisions, and events that directly affect life in our community.

But occasionally, something happening at the provincial level has the potential to reshape how things work here on the ground.

Yesterday’s announcement from the Ontario government about moving ahead with plans to consolidate the province’s 36 conservation authorities into nine regional bodies appears to be one of those moments.
