Weds Jan 24: Looks Like a Good Weekend for Soup and Opera
Plus: Cultural Award nominations open; excess snow removal happening downtown overnight Weds
Owen Sound is well-known for our homegrown musical and cultural talent. Sometimes, we get access to world-class experiences here, too.
The MET Opera’s ‘Live in HD’ series is one such opportunity. The MET has partnered with theatres, including our very own Galaxy Cinemas, to offer an extraordinary lineup of live-streamed productions like Romeo et Juliette and Madama Butterfly (not a typo; it’s the Italian rendition) on the big screen.
Bizet's ‘Carmen’ is next up at Galaxy Cinemas this Saturday at 12:55pm. (Note: This information is accurate to the best of our knowledge but we encourage you to contact Galaxy Cinemas Owen Sound to confirm. The phone number is 519-371-5222.) Dates for upcoming live opera broadcasts can be found here.
Thank you to Shawna Macivor for sending this in!

P.S. Don’t forget, the Alzheimer’s Society is hosting their ‘Soup’s On’ event this weekend, too. The boys and I had a great time at this last year, sampling and voting on our favourite soups. I took home a few wins in the silent auction, too. 😁
