Local food cooperative Eat Local Grey Bruce, which operates an online marketplace connecting food producers with “Eaters,” has issued an urgent appeal for new business.
The organization will be forced to close for good without an additional 10-15 orders per week, says board member Kel Smith.
It’s not the first time the cooperative has faced financial difficulties. ELGB underwent a major restructuring this past year after crowdfunding enough money to pay its immediate debts and keep going.
Smith says, “…if you also care about local food, if you care about good quality food, if you care about our local farmers and food producers, now is the time to step up.”
