Between now and the New Year, we’re reflecting on issues and events that inspired community conversations this past year. The next of our most-read letters to the editor landed in July, when David Wood weighed in on the eye-rolls and grumbling at the time about the sign change at Saugeen Beach.

• Owen Sound’s Community Services Committee meets for the last time this year today at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. On their agenda: an update from the Owen Sound Chamber of Commerce on the recently implemented Tourism Development Fund (MAT), a working group recommendation to go ahead and rename Ryerson Park, a request for a commemorative tree and a staff report on concession options at Julie McArthur Rec Centre, and more.

• Owen Sound’s Operations Committee is also wrapping up for the year with their final meeting on Thurs, Dec 18, at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. On the agenda: a deputation from Jake Bousfield-Bastedo on pedestrian infrastructure; staff-recommended changes to on-street parking, intersection stop control, and yield-right-of-way regulations; and a lot more.
