Plus: If Owen Sound cares not to participate in housing conversations, maybe it's time Grey County takes over land use planning and building administration - Letter

Thank you for supporting independent local journalism!
It’s been a year since Meta’s news ban took effect, and 88% of Canadians still don’t know that news is banned on Facebook and Instagram.
That’s according to the Media Ecosystem Observatory, which recently conducted a data-driven examination of the ban’s impact on Canadians and news media.
“Canadians continue to learn about politics and current events through Facebook and Instagram, but through a more biased and less factual lens than before and many Canadians do not even realize the shift has occurred,” the organization reports.
The Owen Sound Current offers an online option for curated local news, information, and events.
We share stories curated from multiple local sources each day – from print media, podcasts, magazines, radio shows, social media, and directly from local organizations, businesses, and individuals – delivered right to your inbox, so you can stay fully informed about what’s happening in and around Owen Sound.
If you haven’t upgraded to a full subscription, you’re probably missing out on important local news and information.
Before we get to the full subscriber portion of our today’s edition, Christy Hempel has proposed a solution to get Owen Sound housing conversations moving in a more positive direction in this new letter to the editor.
Keep sharing your experiences, readers.
Yesterday’s letter to the editor from a local business owner was read more than 10,000 times within 24 hours of publication and shared hundreds of times on social media. Your voices and experiences matter, and they’re part of the community conversation that needs to happen if we are to find solutions and improve the quality of life for all in Owen Sound.
We’re happy to help by providing a platform for some of those conversations. You can submit your letter to owensoundcurrenteditor@gmail.com. Don’t bother with libellous or abusive letters—we will not read or publish them.
Full subscribers, keep reading for local news stories and events.
