The Repair Cafe, a joint venture of the Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team and the Owen Sound North Grey Union Public Library, celebrated its one-year anniversary in March.

We’ve been asked to pass along this note to readers: the Repair Café at the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library will be closed for the month of August.

Volunteer fixers are taking a short break, and the program will resume on Saturday, September 13, from 1 to 4 p.m., continuing on the second Saturday of each month thereafter.

The Repair Café, a collaboration between the Library and the Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team, has been helping community members extend the life of household items since launching in March 2024. Organizers say more than 800 items—including toasters, lamps, and vacuum cleaners—have been repaired so far, keeping them out of the landfill.

So if your lamp flickers or your zipper’s stuck, hold onto it… help will be back in September.

Public Notices

• Traffic will be reduced to one lane on Wednesday, August 6 at the intersection of 9th Avenue East and 6th Street East. See the City of Owen Sound announcement for more.
