People often ask how they can actually get involved in building a healthier community — not just in theory, but in practice.
This is one of those opportunities.
Later this month, the Grey Bruce Healthy Communities Partnership is hosting its 2026 Healthy Communities Conference in Owen Sound, bringing together more than 200 people from across the region working on everything from frontline care to community programming and policy.
And importantly, members of the public are invited to attend.
There are two ways to take part:
A networking evening on April 27
A full conference day on April 28
Or both, if you want to fully immerse yourself in the conversations
The theme this year is Building a Culture of Wellness, with a focus on what’s already working in rural communities and how those efforts can be strengthened and connected.
It’s also a chance to hear directly from people doing the work, including keynote speaker Dr. Elisa Levi, an Anishinaabe Kwe from Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, who is leading the development of an Indigenous-led, land-based model of care at Neyaashiinigmiing.
Whether you’re part of an organization, have lived experience, or are simply curious about how health systems and community supports are evolving in Grey-Bruce, this is a great chance to step into the room and be part of it.
P.S. Yesterday, we launched a community poll asking, “What is the lowest income level you feel represents “high earning” in the public sector in 2026, worthy of appearing in the “Sunshine List?” You can still have your say — cast your vote here.
