Wanted: Codie Bloom – Arrest Warrant Issued in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Hanover
Hanover Police have issued a warrant for Codie Bloom, 33, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed Sheila Lamont. Bloom is wanted for dangerous driving, failing to remain, and arson.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for 33-year-old Codie Bloom, of no fixed address, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 66-year-old woman in Hanover last week.
Bloom is now wanted for Dangerous Driving Causing Death, Fail to Remain at a Collision Resulting in Death, and Arson.
The charges follow the June 11 collision that killed Sheila Lamont, who was struck while crossing 7th Avenue near Hanover Park around 5:20 p.m.
The suspect vehicle, a red 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible, was later discovered burned in a bush lot on Sideroad 25 in the former Brant Township. It has since been examined by Ontario Provincial Police forensic investigators.
Police say Bloom has known connections in Grey, Bruce, Huron, and Wellington Counties. Authorities are warning the public that anyone who assists Bloom in evading arrest may face charges as an accessory after the fact.
Bloom was also previously charged in a separate case in late 2024. On December 31, Wellington County OPP arrested him in connection with a reported stolen motorcycle in Harriston. He was charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle and scheduled to appear in Guelph court on February 2, 2025. The outcome of that case has not been publicly reported and may still be before the courts.
Hanover Police urge anyone with information about Bloom’s movements on June 11—before or after the collision—or his current whereabouts to contact investigators immediately.
Tips can be submitted to the Hanover Police Service at 519-364-2411 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
The investigation remains ongoing.
