UPDATE: Arrest Made in March Robbery at Markdale Gas Station
38-year-old woman charged with robbery and disguise with intent following OPP investigation
One person has been arrested and charged in connection with the March 20 robbery of a gas station in Markdale, Ontario.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed that Ashley Newman, 38, of no fixed address, has been charged with the following offences:
Robbery with a weapon
Disguise with intent
Failure to comply with release order
The incident occurred around 9:10 p.m. at a gas station on Toronto Street in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. According to police, a woman entered the business, declared it was a robbery, and demanded cash. Approximately $150 was taken before the suspect fled southbound on Highway 10 in an unidentified vehicle.
No injuries were reported.
Newman was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on April 16, 2025.
The initial police appeal described the suspect as a white woman, approximately 5'2" tall with a very thin build. Police had also released images of a second individual—a white male with brown hair—who was seen at the business around the time of the robbery. At this time, OPP have not released any further updates regarding that individual.
