Two Men Wanted in Separate Investigations Sought in Saturday Night Police Searches
Owen Sound Police pursued two unrelated suspects Saturday night, prompting a large east side search; both individuals were identified but remained at large Sunday morning.
Owen Sound Police had a busy night Saturday as they pursued two suspects wanted in relation to two separate investigations around the city into the early morning hours.
Residents noticed an increased police presence on the upper eastside near the 9th Ave E and 16th St E intersection, and also near Duncan McLellan ball park, after 10 p.m. on July 27.
As neighbours shared various accounts on social media, a picture began to emerge of an active search spanning 16th St to 20th St E, and 6th Ave to 9th Ave. Several reported police had searched their backyards.
One woman, who has asked not to be named, awoke this morning to find that two sheds on her property had been ransacked, their contents strewn about her backyard.
“My utility trailer was ripped apart,” she added, noting that it had been secured with a lock.
Her neighbours, she said, found the man in question inside their camping trailer. Others reported broken windows and a shed that had been turned over.
The woman did not believe anything had been stolen, but that the man had been looking for something. “There’s just a lot of damage,” she said.
Craig Ambrose, Police Chief, told The Owen Sound Current on Sunday morning that “In both of those incidents, the suspects have been identified and remain outstanding, and the investigation continues.”
He said he was not aware of any injuries associated with these incidents.
Anyone with information about this information or either suspect should contact the Owen Sound Police Service on their non-emergency line at (519) 376-1234.
