Two Injured & One Facing Charges After E-Bike Struck by Vehicle on Highway 6-10
Two Meaford residents were sent to hospital with non life-threatening injuries after their e-bike was hit by a vehicle Sunday night on Hwy 6-10. Police have not released names.
Police have released more information about the Sunday evening collision on Highway 6-10 in Georgian Bluffs that sent two people to hospital.
The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Grey County Paramedic Services, and local fire crews responded to the incident shortly after 6:00 p.m. on November 23. The collision occurred between Superior Street and Storybook Park Road.
According to police, both the e-bike and the passenger vehicle were travelling southbound when the vehicle struck the e-bike.
A 42-year-old e-bike operator and a 39-year-old passenger, both residents of the Municipality of Meaford, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, with the passenger’s described as “serious.” Both individuals were transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, a 50-year-old from Chatsworth, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to pass safely on the left to avoid the collision, a provincial offence that carries a set fine of $85.00.
Highway 6-10 was closed for several hours to allow emergency crews to secure the scene and for police to conduct an investigation. The roadway was reopened at 1:17 a.m. on November 24.
Names of those involved have not been released.
