Two Barrie Men Face Charges Following Collision and Drug Seizure in Brockton
Two Barrie men were arrested after South Bruce OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision in Brockton on December 23, leading to the seizure of drugs, a weapon, and ammunition.
On December 23, 2024, at approximately 8:55 p.m., South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single-vehicle collision on Bruce Road 4 in the Municipality of Brockton.
Officers discovered the vehicle in a ditch and determined the occupants were breaching release conditions. Police arrested two individuals and seized suspected cocaine, a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW), and ammunition.
Michael Benninger, 36, of Barrie, faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, carrying a concealed prohibited device, and possession of a Schedule I substance. He was held for a bail hearing on December 24, 2024, and remains in custody.
Zaid Al-Mashni, 27, also of Barrie, is charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on January 22, 2024.
