Now that we’ve had a bit of a breather from the scorching temperatures and wildfire smoke, guest columnist John Anderson is here to talk climate change.
John is a former marine scientist for the federal government and adjunct professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Since moving to Georgian Bluffs, he’s been active in local efforts to engage with municipalities, the public and schools on climate change and action.
He’s also the co-producer (with Liz Zetlin) of the Resilience: Transforming Our Community documentary.
More recently, John has been working with the Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team (GBCAT) in partnership with Grey Roots Museum to bring a local perspective to the topic of “wild weather.” You may recall that we shared their call for stories earlier this year.
That exhibit is at Grey Roots now, and it coincides with the Wild Weather Exhibit on display by Science North. As part of this work, John developed four local stories of wild weather that are accessible on the Grey Bruce Climate Action Network, and also via QR codes at the physical exhibit.
