Tues Jan 2: No Word from Police on Westside Rail Trail Investigation
Plus: Shifting to a greener culture – steps you can take at home
No word yet from police on the cause of the investigation that resulted in the westside rail trail being blocked off over New Year’s Eve.
Multiple members of the public reported on December 31 that police had blockaded the 28th St W rail trail. Unconfirmed reports suggest one person was found deceased in the area.
We are told OPP interviewed residents of Regency Tower at 550 19th St W on Saturday.
However, neither OSPS nor OPP had posted a media release at the time of publication, and neither responded to inquiries from The Owen Sound Current.
In lighter news, we’ve seen a flurry of event announcements over the last few days. Applications are open now for the 2024 Owen Sound Community Artist Studio Tour from Sept 21-22, 2024. Register here.
Studio XX is holding a Grey Bruce Animal Shelter fundraiser through January. A series of 12" x 12" acrylic on canvas paintings are available at the Owen Sound Artists' Co-op for $100 each, with 100 percent of proceeds going to the Shelter.
The Field Naturalists have announced that tickets are available now ($10) for the 9th Annual Celebrate Earth Day Keynote Speaker Event aboard the MS Chi-Cheemaun. Special guest Robert Bowles is originally from the Markdale area.
Finally, enjoy this final week of this holiday season’s Festival of Northern Lights. The lights will be on nightly from 5pm to 10pm until Sunday, January 7th.
You’ll find plenty more to see and do in our full event listings.
