Traffic Stop in Hanover Results in Arrest and $26,000 Drugs & Cash Seizure
A routine traffic stop in Hanover uncovered cocaine, methamphetamine, and cash, with the driver now facing trafficking and other charges.
A routine traffic stop in Hanover has resulted in the arrest of a Mississauga man and the seizure of drugs and cash valued at more than $26,000.
According to Hanover Police, officers stopped a rental vehicle on 10th Avenue around 12:45 a.m. on September 8. The driver initially provided a false identity, claiming to be a resident of the Greater Toronto Area. Investigators later determined he was impersonating another individual.
Police say the driver was arrested and brought to cells, where he remained unidentified for eight hours until investigators confirmed his identity through record searches. The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Delan Khushaba of Mississauga.
A search of the vehicle uncovered cocaine and methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $15,700, along with more than $11,000 in Canadian currency.
Khushaba faces multiple charges, including personation, obstructing a peace officer, failing to comply with probation, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
He also faces Highway Traffic Act charges for driving under suspension and failing to provide identification. Police said additional charges may follow as evidence continues to be reviewed.
Khushaba was held for a bail hearing and has been remanded into custody.
