In today’s Letter to the Editor, Bruce County resident David Wood takes aim at the narrative surrounding TC Energy’s proposed 1,000-megawatt pumped-storage project near Meaford.

Promoted as a “clean-energy battery,” the project is, in Wood’s view, an industrial-scale gamble with Georgian Bay’s natural heritage and local decision-making.

He argues that behind the green branding lies a troubling lack of transparency — on costs, environmental impact, and who ultimately benefits.

With provincial safeguards weakened and communities left to rely on corporate assurances, Wood warns the proposal reflects a broader shift in Ontario’s priorities: from environmental stewardship toward unchecked development.
