Municipal election season is underway, and Owen Sound’s 2026 mayoral race is now contested with Richard Thomas and Andrii Zvorygin both officially filing nomination papers.
Ross Kentner, currently Mayor of Meaford, has announced he plans to pass the torch and won’t seek another term in the seat. So far, one person — Shirley Keaveney — has expressed interest in taking his place.
Just two people — Cheryl Grace and John Divinski — have filed to run in Town of Saugeen Shores, and they’re competing for the same Southampton Ward Councillor seat.
Caleb Hull will ask for South Bruce Peninsula residents’ vote for Deputy Mayor, and Lucie Desbiens is looking to serve as English Separate Trustee for the Blue Grey Catholic District School Board.
So far, no candidates have registered for deputy mayor or council seats in Owen Sound — meaning there’s still plenty of room on the ballot for anyone considering a run. Nominations remain open until August 21.
