We begin today with a letter to the editor.

The state of Owen Sound’s downtown has been a hot topic lately for all the wrong reasons. The “downtown mess” came up in additional business at Council last week; complaints and photos of trash piles and garbage littering the streets have been circulating on social media.

In her letter, Tamara Sargent cautions residents not to direct their anger toward those who are already struggling to survive.

She shares what she says she witnessed downtown involving police, bylaw officers, and the belongings of unhoused residents — and raises concerns about how public frustration over garbage is being directed at people living on the street.
