Local Review: Mudtown Station's Menu Delights, But the Experience Needs to Catch Up

The important thing about a restaurant menu is that it introduces you to the chef, assuming he or she is actually the person deciding on its contents. Not the case, of course, for chain restaurants, which must adhere to the head office selections.

You can be persuaded by friends or reviews to try a place, but once you have opted to eat there, you can get to know the style and intention of the creative team in the kitchen by how the offerings are described. The language and detail on the menu will help set your expectations.

That brings us to today’s review of Mudtown Station, a brewery and restaurant on the east side of Owen Sound, lodged in a 1940s former Canadian Pacific train station overlooking the harbour.
