Three Owen Sound Attack Players Selected in 2025 NHL Draft
David Bedkowski, Trenten Bennett, and Harry Nansi of the Owen Sound Attack were drafted on Day 2 of the 2025 NHL Draft by Buffalo, New Jersey, and Toronto.
Three members of the Owen Sound Attack were selected during day two of the 2025 NHL Draft, held over the weekend.
Defenseman David Bedkowski was drafted in the third round by the Buffalo Sabres. Forward Trenten Bennett was taken in the fourth round by the New Jersey Devils, and winger Harry Nansi followed in the fifth round, selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
David Bedkowski, selected 71st overall in the third round by the Sabres, is a 6-foot-5, 215-pound defenceman from Toronto known for his physical presence and steady defensive play.
After beginning the season with the Oshawa Generals, Bedkowski was acquired by Owen Sound and went on to register three goals and four assists in 35 regular-season games. He added one goal in four playoff appearances. His combination of size, reach, and mobility has drawn interest from scouts seeking a shutdown-style blueliner
Trenten Bennett, drafted 99th overall by the Devils, is a 6-foot-8 goaltender who made a notable impression during limited OHL action. Born April 1, 2006, Bennett appeared in six games with Owen Sound during the 2024–25 season, posting a 2.65 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage.
Prior to joining the Attack, he played with the Kemptville 73s of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL), where he established himself as a promising prospect with size and poise in the net.
Harry Nansi, taken 153rd overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs, played 67 regular-season games with Owen Sound in 2024–25, contributing 7 goals and 16 assists. He also recorded an assist in the postseason. Nansi’s steady production and work rate helped him emerge as a reliable forward option, earning attention from NHL scouts during his draft-eligible season.
In a statement issued Sunday, Owen Sound Attack General Manager Dale DeGray said:
“It was another great draft day for the organization. It’s always a nervous weekend for any eligible players, but it is certainly exciting for all the boys that get to hear their name called.
David (Buffalo), Trenten (New Jersey) and Harry (Toronto) are all certainly deserving of their selections today at the NHL Draft and with Matthew and Jake likely receiving invites to development camps, all of them will have wonderful experiences that they can grow their games on.”
The players are expected to participate in NHL development camps with their respective teams over the summer and attend training camps in the fall.
The Owen Sound Attack will begin their 2025–26 training camp on August 25 at the Shallow Lake & District Community Centre. According to the team, season tickets are available through August 1, with flex packages going on sale starting August 2.
