Thomson and Johnstone Acclaimed to Sixth Term as Chair and Vice-Chair of Bluewater School Board
Trustees Jane Thomson and Jan Johnstone will continue to lead the Bluewater board after being acclaimed to their roles for a sixth straight year.
The leadership of the Bluewater District School Board remains unchanged following this year’s trustee elections, with both Chair Jane Thomson and Vice-Chair Jan Johnstone acclaimed to their roles for a sixth consecutive one-year term.
The acclamations took place at the board’s Initial Meeting on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
Thomson represents the Town of South Bruce Peninsula and the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula. Johnstone represents the Municipality of Kincardine and the Township of Huron-Kinloss.
Both trustees have held their executive positions since 2020, and their continued leadership reflects a sustained level of support from fellow trustees. No other nominations were brought forward for either role at the meeting.
Vice-Chair Johnstone also continues to serve at the provincial level. She was elected First Vice-President of the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA) in June 2025, adding a provincial advocacy role to her duties with Bluewater.
Bluewater District School Board oversees public education across Bruce and Grey counties, serving more than 18,000 students in 40 elementary and nine secondary schools.
