Owen Sound City Council meets Monday, May 27, with open session beginning at 5:30pm in council chambers.

Now, here’s a quick look at some of what’s coming up at Monday’s meeting.
Highlights:
The fire department has acquired a new-to-us aerial truck in an auction.
The City will pull funding for the Recycling Convenience Depot, and its continued operation is then up to Miller Waste.
Council will be asked to approve a water rates increase, effective July.
Fees for animal control, building permits, engineering services, ice rentals, and more are increasing.
Council will be asked to approve the reallocation of $10,000 in 2023 funding for the Kiwanis Soccer Complex Bleachers to replant the trees lost to Emerald Ash Borer in 2024.
Staff will ask Council to approve a lease for the former Public Works site on 2nd Ave East to provide parking for the Courthouse wedding venue, at $1 a year for the first 7 years.
The final draft of the Harrison Park Master Plan is coming to Council. Council be asked to approve a recommendation from a wildlife expert via a committee to naturalize the bird area at Harrison Park and not repopulate any captive birds as they naturally die off.
Council will get a look at the proposed “Future Owen Sound: Vision 2050” work plan and logo.
