South Bruce OPP Updates: Stolen Polaris 900, RIDE Results in Impound
Police seek the public's assistance in locating a black 2018 Polaris 900 side-by-side utility vehicle taken in a break-in at a McFarlan Road residence in the Municipality of Kincardine.
Here are the latest updates from the South Bruce detachment of the OPP, serving Arran-Elderslie, Brockton, Huron-Kinloss, Kincardine, and South Bruce.
Police Investigating Break and Enter in Kincardine
South Bruce OPP is investigating a break-and-enter reported at a residential property along McFarlan Road in the Municipality of Kincardine.
According to police, the incident occurred sometime between December 18 and December 24, 2024. An outbuilding on the property was forcibly entered, and a black 2018 Polaris 900 side-by-side utility vehicle with Ontario license plate #9WW86 was stolen. Police provided a photo of an off-road vehicle similar to the one stolen (see featured image above).
Residents in the area are being asked to review surveillance footage from the dates in question. Police believe video evidence may assist in identifying the suspect or suspects involved in this theft.
The South Bruce OPP requests anyone with information to contact them at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be provided through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or by submitting a secure online tip at www.cstip.ca. Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest or conviction.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the OPP continues to encourage vigilance in the community to help prevent further incidents.
Driver Charged During RIDE Check in Arran-Elderslie
A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in Arran-Elderslie has resulted in criminal charges, according to the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Officers conducted the RIDE initiative on 1st Avenue North in Chesley on the evening of December 29, 2024, stopping vehicles to ensure compliance with road safety laws. At approximately 10:00 p.m., a vehicle stop led to further investigation.
As a result, a 35-year-old Owen Sound resident, Cody Elder, has been charged with operation while prohibited under section 320.18(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
Police confirmed that the vehicle involved has been impounded for 45 days as part of the enforcement measures.
Elder is scheduled to appear in court at the Walkerton Court of Justice on February 12, 2025.
