South Bruce OPP Lay Impaired Driving Charges in Kincardine and Brockton
Three men — from New Brunswick, Brockton, and Williamsford — face impaired driving charges following R.I.D.E. checks, a traffic stop, and a collision in South Bruce over the weekend.
Here are the latest updates from the South Bruce detachment of the OPP, serving Arran-Elderslie, Brockton, Huron-Kinloss, Kincardine, and South Bruce.
Collision in Brockton leads to impaired driving charge
A Williamsford man is facing an impaired driving charge after police responded to a collision in Brockton.
The incident happened on August 17 at approximately 3:18 a.m. on Concession 8. Police arrived to find a vehicle in the ditch. After speaking with the driver, officers detected signs of impairment and administered a roadside test, which registered a fail.
The driver was taken into custody for further testing.
As a result, 22-year-old Jason Rudolph of Williamsford has been charged with operating a vehicle with a B.A.C. over 80. He is scheduled to appear in Walkerton court on October 1.
Driver charged at R.I.D.E. checkpoint in Kincardine
A New Brunswick man is facing an impaired driving charge following a R.I.D.E. check in Kincardine.
Police say the incident happened on August 16 at about 1:45 a.m., when officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program along Bruce Road 23. A vehicle entered the checkpoint, and after speaking with the driver, officers detected signs of impairment.
The driver was arrested and transported for further testing.
As a result, 37-year-old Domenic Bernardi of New Brunswick has been charged with impaired operation of a vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in court in Walkerton on September 24.
Multiple charges laid following traffic stop in Kincardine
Police laid several charges against a Brockton resident after a traffic stop in Kincardine.
On August 16 at around 4:28 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle on Lambton Street for a Highway Traffic Act violation. According to police, signs of impairment were detected, and the driver registered a fail on a roadside screening device.
The driver was arrested and taken for further testing.
As a result, 36-year-old Thomas Hudson of Brockton has been charged with:
Operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration (B.A.C.) over 80
Operation while prohibited
Failing to properly wear a seat belt
Class G1 licence — unaccompanied by qualified driver
Hudson is scheduled to appear in Walkerton court on September 17.
